HandiRoam is built and run by Paul Ansell, a club golfer and software developer in Hertfordshire. It is a product of PA Product Ventures Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company number 16981371).
I built Handicalc, a handicap calculator used by golfers in a number of countries, and kept hitting the same problem: every golf app wants your handicap, and every one of them makes you type it in and keep it up to date yourself. HandiRoam is the fix. You publish your handicap once, and you choose which apps may read it.
That problem is getting bigger, not smaller. More golf apps appear every year, from club tour organisers to stat trackers, and each one has to build its own handicap entry, validation and updating, then persuade players to keep it current. HandiRoam takes that headache away: one connection, and the app reads a handicap the player already maintains.
Independent, and neutral
HandiRoam is not affiliated with any golf association, and it treats every app the same. Handicalc connects to it as a customer, on the same terms and the same API as any other app, with no special access. That neutrality is the point: the service only works if every golf app can trust it equally.
