What HandiRoam is
HandiRoam lets you publish golf data, starting with your handicap, under a HandiRoam ID and choose which third-party services can read it, or publish on your behalf. Each service you connect gets its own private reference to you, not your HandiRoam ID. It is run by PA Product Ventures Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16981371), registered office 138 The Drive, Rickmansworth, WD3 4DP, United Kingdom.
Handicaps here are not official records
HandiRoam does not check any number against a golf federation or club. A handicap shown by HandiRoam is only what you, or a service you allowed, put there. Where a value is marked as verified, it was sent by a verified source you connected, such as your federation, and HandiRoam relays it without checking it itself. It is not an official handicap record, and nobody should rely on it to decide eligibility, scoring or entry to any competition without checking it with the appropriate authority.
Independence
HandiRoam is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by any national golf association or handicapping authority, and it does not issue, calculate or certify handicaps. The word "handicap" is used here only to describe the kind of figure you choose to share.
Your responsibilities
- Publish only a handicap that is genuinely yours, and keep it reasonably up to date.
- Don't use HandiRoam to deceive others, to harm the service, or to access anyone else's account or data.
- Keep control of the email account you sign in with. You are responsible for what happens under your HandiRoam account.
- You must be 13 or over to use HandiRoam.
Connected services
Services you connect are separate from HandiRoam and are responsible for how they use what they read. You can disconnect any service from your dashboard. Disconnecting stops further access but doesn't erase what a service has already received.
If you run a service
If you hold an API key, these terms apply to you as well as the rules in the API documentation. In short: keep your key secret and on your server; use a player's reference only for that player and only with your own key; read and publish only what the player's grants allow, and only for the purpose they connected you for; treat a 403 as the player having disconnected you and stop; hold what you have read under your own privacy policy and tell your players what you keep; and describe handicaps from HandiRoam as unofficial unless marked verified. We may suspend or withdraw a key that breaks these rules or puts players at risk.
The service itself
HandiRoam is provided "as is". We aim to keep it available and accurate, but we don't promise it will always be, and we may change or withdraw it. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk.
Our liability
We don't exclude liability that can't be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from a handicap being wrong or being relied upon.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard. See the privacy policy for what that removes.
Changes and law
We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the service before it takes effect. Continuing to use HandiRoam after that means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
